You could use a converter to take movie files that you already have and convert them to the iPod readable format. However they can be kind of messy (low quality, audio/video synching problems, etc.), and you usually have to have a computer with enough horsepower to run such a program (my old computer over heated trying to do this =[ ). A lot of Dvds actually come with a copy of the movie on a disk that you can upload and the add to your iPod/iPhone. If you use a shareware like limeware or bearshare you can try searching for movies already in iPod format. Finally if you use a Mac you can try looking for an excellent program called HandBrake that takes the dvds you already own and convert them directly into the iPod format.
And finally, and I know this may sound horrible… but you could buy the movies too. I hate paying for movies too, but it is the easiest way to get them and they are guaranteed to be good quality. Good with whatever you choose to do. Peace.
