when i try to download itunes for my ipod touch it downloads half way and then stops. what is the problem?

I have plenty of memory on my laptop and it is compatible. Also i have tried downloading the new version and three of the older versions (9.0, 7.6, 8.2) what is the problem ??? help please!
ps i have the ipod touch.

    Try turning off any virus software programs.
