BOTH can play video.
The newest version of Ipod in 80 & 160 GB varieties are classics and can play video, music, or act as a portable hard drive. Before the classic, the 30 and 60 and 80 GB versions that look just like the classic were called ipod video. Basically the video is older model with smaller available hard drives.
The 80 Gb Video is the 5th generation ipod available in 30, 60 & 80 Gb versions
The Classic is the NEWER 6th Generation – available in 80 & 160 Gb versions
Good Luck
