Over the years iPods have become one of the most popular ways to listen to music. This is because they are small and compact, making them easy to carry around. They also keep music in a data format that doesn?t erode overtime, like CDs and cassette tapes. If you have just bought your iPod you are probably trying figure out how to get music on it. Downloading music allows you to add songs that you have purchased online or imported from a CD.
While there currently is no way to directly download music to an iPod there may be in the short future. Since the invention of the iPhone Apple has been able to combine an iPod with a phone that has internet capabilities. New versions of the iPod will be able to link up to iTunes and download music directly to the iPod soon enough. However, currently the easiest and best way to get music to your iPhone is through a PC. It?s important to note that even if you could download music to your iPod it could be a bad thing. Let?s say that you have downloaded 100 songs to your iPod at 99 cents each. A few months later your iPod gives out and goes dead and you can?t get your music off the device. You now have to spend another $100 roughly to buy those songs again. It?s safer to download the music to your PC and then transfer it to your iPod. This way you?ll always have a backup of the music you paid for.
Most people connect to iTunes on their computer and transfer music that way. It is very simple and doesn?t take much time at all. When you store you music using your library you are backing it up if your iPod fails. The only way to establish your music library is to have it downloaded with iTunes. You can find iTunes online at the Apple website or you can download it from a CD that came with your iPod. When you purchase songs off of iTunes they will appear in your library and become ready for downloading to your iPod.
You can also add music to your iTunes software and your PC from a CD. The iTunes software will rip the music to your computer. All you have to do is input your CD and click on the import CD button inside iTunes. You can also modify the information to the songs.
Plug in your iPod using the USB cord and select the songs you want to put on it. By dragging a song from your list to the picture of your iPod you can add each song one by one. To speed up the process hold shift while selecting a number of songs. Choosing to synch your iPod with your music library makes sure all of the information in both resources is shared. You iPod will acquire any new information from your library, while your music library obtains information from your iPod that hasn?t yet been added.

MP3 files are by far the most popular type of audio compression found online. The reality that the audio is compressed to a perfect file size to create easy storage and never loses any of the music quality makes this file type extremely popular. The MP3 files show compatibility with most devices used for listening to music as well as with any operating system found on your computer or laptop. The MP3 files can be transferred to another device like your cell phone, a blank CD, or an IPod.
The majority of the software programs that come installed on your computer when you buy it that are used for playing audio will be compatible with the MP3 compression. Windows media player, Winamp and iTunes are the most common software programs that are used for playing or for transferring MP3 files but any of the software available on the internet will be compatible with the MP3 file as well. The programs create an easy platform for not just listening to the music but for sorting, organizing, or moving the files to other devices.
One of the more popular features is the ability that these programs offer for transferring the MP3 files to other devices like your phone, a CD or your iPod with ease. You are able to look through the library that contains all your music files and choose the ones you want to move. Simply clicking the mouse enables you to see the files being copied from one device to another. Only minutes are required before you are able to listen to the transferred music on the remote device.
MP3 files downloaded from the internet make it easy for people to buy only the music they want. The websites online offer music in the MP3 format and you are able to download a single song or an entire CD. The music stores expect you to pay for an entire CD even if you only want to listen to one or two of the songs on it. IPod owners enjoy the option of only having to pay for the music they want and never for anything more.
Everyone who has an IPod enjoys the freedom it offers. Listen to your favorite music while jogging, driving in the car, while at work, traveling, or even just hanging out at home. The docking stations have made it even easier to play the music and share it with friends. The need for a car or home stereo system is gone with the docking stations offering the same high quality sound as well as the volume.
The triple layered compression decreases the size of the file and never loses the quality of the song. You cannot tell the difference from listening to an MP3 from your iPod or from listening to an original CD from a quality home stereo system. The files are so easily obtained and can be transferred to your iPod without purchasing special software this makes the files a first choice for all who are downloading music online. The small size of the files adds an extra benefit since most of the iPods are able to store thousands of the MP3 files on their hard drives.
