So i downloaded a new version of ipod software, not itunes. And now no songs are going on my ipod, but it says that they’re on there. I restored the whole ipod, waited 4 hours for all my stuff to get back on it then i unplug it, go to music and it says nothings there. What do i do?

i would say to just go back to itunes or email support for the other software, but emailing could take a few good days to get a reply.

you have to remember that itunes is the software designed to work with the iPod!! it’s what allows the computer to communicate with it. you can use other software pretty much at your own risk – some may or may not work. however, i think you are going to end up with several glitches down the road and problems just like you are running in to now. what is it that this new software had that iTunes doesn’t? maybe there is another way to get that feature rather than totally changing the software that you use. i would disconnect the iPod and then unistall whatever software you are currently trying to use. then i would reinstall iTunes and just stick with that!!
