Alright, here it is, this is my BEST ANSWER to a previous question like this, it requires NO EXTRA sofware, just follow my instructions, and get your songs:
Go to the control panel>folder options>view>hidden files and folders>enable hidden files
Anything is possible, to transfer your songs, enable hidden files then go to "My Computer" and click on your iPod, then select the folder "ipod_control" then click the folder "music" and the three following folders F00, F01, F02 or maybe more contain the songs you need. Just copy the three folders to your C:/ drive.
Highlight/Select All of them and Open them into iTunes, putting them in your library.
You will then if you bought them on iTunes have to enter your iTunes account and password. Otherwise they will not work. If they are from CD’s or other mp3 sources they will not require a password.
iTunes is fine with you doing this, and thus has the authorization system.
It is completely legal.

It isnt very easy. It would be easier to copy all the music from the other persons computer.

I dont remember the names of the programs but you can go down to like office max and ask them. It rips the music off your ipod.

I know you can buy programs that you can install into your computer that rips the songs off your iPod. They’re not hard to find. Just go to any store that sells electronics and ask for it. I’m sure they’d have something
Also, I bet you could find something from the internet, but i’m not too familiar with that, so you can have a look around Google, and look for something good and *safe*.

You can use a program called iDump which is a free program which will allow you to transfer your music from your iPod to your computer. When you plug your iPod into your computer make sure you select "Manually manage music and videos" so iTunes doesn’t delete everything then follow the instructions for the program to retrieve and transfer the files from your iPod to iTunes. Be aware that depending on the size of your iPod and library this could take some time so be patient. Also this will only work if you are using a Windows based computer.
