How can I rip the music off my ipod without software if the ipod isn't showing when connected?

But when I got to ‘my computer’ my ipod is not listed.
What do I do?

For the ipod not appearing on the computer you should specify what the ipod displays, but follow apple’s instructions.
1. Updating, or in some cases reinstalling, the Apple Mobile Device driver may resolve this issue
2. iPod only: Updating, or in some cases reinstalling, the drivers for your computer’s USB interface may resolve this issue
