You don’t need to download anything, and I feel bad for people who spend their money to get the songs from their iPod to their computer. Just go here:

    http://deadpoetscave.com/2006/12/copying-music-from-an-ipod-to-a-computer-pc-windows

It gives detailed step-by-step instructions on how to do it. Good luck! =D

go download kikee (i think thats how its spelled). it safely transfers the music so you dont have to lose any of it.

iLounge (the link below) has an amazing article on how to do this, whether you want to do it for free and sacrifice all of the data (like ratings and playlists), or pay for a program and get all of your relevant information off of it. There are basically three ways of doing it:

-Pay about $20 for a program that can get all of the data off of your iPod, and always be there to back it up and get all sorts of extra data off of it.
-Get a free program and only get your songs off of it.
-Do it yourself, risk your iPod’s library and go through a lot of meaningless data to try to get your songs back

I personally paid $20 for CopyTrans for Windows, and it is very, very much worth it. My iTunes library fails all the time, and it nicely recovers it from my iPod’s library, including playlists and play counts.

Go to your control panel and go to folder options check the box that says show all hidden folders. Then plug your iPod in and go to my computer, click on your iPod icon and then you will see a faded folder that says music. Highlight all of the folders inside the music folder and then Copy it into a seperate folder inside your computer. Then you can import the songs from that folder through iTunes by going to file import then choosing those files. Sometimes however that wont work and you will have to go to each folder and play the songs one by one. Or select multiples and play them. Tips: The songs in the file on the computer look like codes that will seem to have nothing to do with the music. Also if you look at the icon next to the code sometimes you will see a little lock and that means that those are your iTunes purchased songs. You will be able to play those songs after you log into your iTunes account. If you need more or the same instructions type in on google "how to get music off your iPod".

Search for a company called kennettnet uk. It has a program called music rescue. It is free to download and use. You can get it at download.com but I think that it is the windows version. The actual website has the mac version.

It is a great program. It will copy songs from your ipod to your computer and add the songs and videos to itunes.

It is free to use but it asks for 20 dollars. If you dont pay it then every 50 songs you will get a prompt asking you to buy it. You can just exit the prompt and it will keep going.

It is safe and easy to use. I have been using it for years.
It will also scan your ipod and itunes library and let you know what songs arent in your itunes library.

It copies songs faster than a song a second.

There are several methods to copy from iPod to computer manually, but a much easier and quicker way to do this job is to use some 3rd party software I think.
If you are using Mac, you can try yamipod. It’s free and my friend told me it can copy songs from ipod to computer.
If you are using Windows, you can try iPod Copy Expert, which I’m currently using. It can not only copy songs from iPod to any folder on your PC, but transfer playlists, ratings and play count back to your iTunes.
