Can you update your ipod software to a newer generations version?

I have a 5th generation 80gb ipod and i want the software in the newer 6th generation 80bg ipod.
Ide be willing to hack it, if you anyone could tell me how

    If you want to do it you have to change the all the contents of the iPod, it can get damaged or not respond
