Can I update my ipod touch with the new software, but not the newest one?

last time i updated my ipod touch software to the new one, but it’s free. and when i reseted my ipod touch setting several days ago, itunes published the newest software which require me to pay. i don’t need the newest one. i just need the software which allow me to use various applications.

Hello,
Your iPod has now the software you uploaded it with the last time. So you do not have to do anything, just restore your iPod. However if you do update it via iTunes it will get you the latest update. So simply do not update and you will have the last software you purchased.

If you don’t want the new 3.1 software you don’t have to get it. Apple will be very annoying and keep reminding you (because they want your money) but you can ignore it. Although I would recommend getting the new software. It’s very useful.
